How to Make an Armor Stand in Minecraft
VirgilVD
Armor stands are practical and decorative items in Minecraft, used to display or store your armor and other wearable items. Depending on the Minecraft edition you are playing, you might be able to place a sword or other weapons on the armor stand as well. This article explains how to craft an armor stand, its features, and creative ways to use it in your world.
How to Craft an Armor Stand
To craft an armor stand, you'll need one smooth stone slab and six sticks. Sticks can be crafted by placing two wooden planks on a crafting table, one on top of the other, which yields four sticks. Smooth stone slabs are made by placing three smooth stone blocks in a row on a crafting table, yielding six smooth stone slabs. Smooth stone blocks are acquired by smelting in a furnace cobblestone to stone, and then stone to smooth stone.
The crafting recipe for an armor stand consists of placing a smooth stone slab in the middle bottom index of the crafting table, with sticks on either side and on top of the slab, and then three sticks in the top row. In return, you will receive one armor stand.
How to Use an Armor Stand
Once placed, right-click the armor stand to equip it with armor pieces. All types of armor can be placed on the stand, including netherrite, diamond, gold, iron, chainmail, and leather. You can also display heads, shields, or elytras on it.
Armor stands can be customized further in a few other ways. In the Java edition of Minecraft, you can use commands to change the armor stand's pose. Some of these commands include:
- Simple Pose - /summon armor_stand ~ ~ ~ {Pose:{Head:[30f,0f,0f]}}
This command tilts the armor stand's head slightly downward.
- Arms Raised Pose - /summon armor_stand ~ ~ ~ {Pose:{RightArm:[-90f,0f,0f],LeftArm:[-90f,0f,0f]}}
This command makes the armor stand's arms appear cheering or reaching upward.
- Leg Crossing Pose - /summon armor_stand ~ ~ ~ {Pose:{LeftLeg:[20f,0f,0f],RightLeg:[-20f,0f,0f]}}
This command adjusts the legs for a crossed or dynamic walking stance.
Redstone mechanics can also be used to interact with armor stands to create dynamic displays. For example, you can make a rotating display using a redstone clock (repeater and comparator) and sticky pistons to move the stand in different directions based on the clock's cycle. Another idea is placing the armor stand on a minecart and having it ride along a path of rails powered by redstone signals, giving the effect of a patrolling guard or conveyor display for items.
Practical Uses for Armor Stands
Armor stands have multiple uses that make it a fun and useful item to acquire in Minecraft. First, it's a great way to showcase your wealth or achievements to yourself or other players, as acquiring the resources to craft the armor can take time. It is also a practical storage mechanism for placing your armor and having it easily accessible near or in your base.
Leather armor can be dyed using the many dyes available in Minecraft, allowing you to create armor in a variety of colors, such as red, orange, blue, and more. This is a great way to create some decorative statues and artistic designs to add to your base in-game.
Armor stands are both functional and aesthetic, allowing you to display your hard-earned items and add character to your builds. With the information from this article, you're ready to get started making and using them in-game.
