How to Make Bricks in Minecraft
VirgilVD
Bricks are decorative blocks in Minecraft that are often used to construct houses, chimneys, pathways, and more. Their unique texture and durability make them a popular choice for builders.
This article explains how to craft bricks, what materials you’ll need, and their various uses.
How to Craft Bricks in Minecraft
There are a couple of steps necessary to create bricks in Minecraft survival mode. The first step involves collecting clay. You can find and mine clay blocks typically underwater near sand, lakes, and other bodies of water. Make sure to collect a decent amount of clay as you will need more than one piece to craft brick blocks. Clay can be gathered most efficiently using a shovel. Additionally, having an enchanted Aqua Affinity helmet will significantly increase your mining speed while submerged underwater.
Once you have collected your clay, you will need to smelt it into brick ingots. Put your clay into a furnace with a fuel source like coal, charcoal, or wood, and you will receive a brick ingot for each piece of clay smelted.
After collecting your brick ingots, you can then craft brick blocks. Place four brick ingots in a two-by-two square either in your inventory workbench or a crafting table, and in return, you will receive one brick block. This is why it is important to collect as much clay as you can, because it takes a lot to make enough brick blocks you will need to build a structure.
Common Uses for Bricks in Minecraft
Bricks can be used for multiple purposes in Minecraft survival mode including being used as a decorative feature in structures, crafting flower pots, and even trading with villagers for emeralds and other items.
Brick blocks are a great aesthetic choice for buildings like houses and sheds as well as additional features like fireplaces, roofs, and more. The color and texture of the block make it stand out from typical building blocks in the game like wood or stone. Additionally, brick slabs and stairs can be crafted in the same fashion as you would for wooden or stone slabs and stairs, making for more variability in its use cases.
Bricks mix very well with other building blocks as well. Try using bricks with blocks like stone bricks or glazed terracotta to create unique and visually appealing designs in your structures.
Furthermore, flower pots are another decorative feature that can be used in-game, crafted from bricks. All types of flowers, saplings, and other plant-based items can be placed in these pots that can add to the aesthetic of your creations. To craft a flower pot, you need to place three brick ingots in a V-shape in a crafting table, receiving one flower pot in return.
Bricks are also an item that can be traded with villagers, specifically stone mason villagers, in return for emeralds. Ten brick ingots can be traded for one emerald when trading with the right villager.
Emeralds can be a very useful item in the game to trade further with villagers for other items they may have. Depending on the type of villager you trade with, these items may include string, paper, enchanted books, bookshelves, lanterns, and more. Leveling up a villager by trading with them will increase the possible rewards you may receive as well.
Additionally, emerald blocks, crafted with nine emerald ingots, can be placed under a beacon to apply special effects like speed, strength, and regeneration to a surrounding area.
Overall, bricks are a great resource in the game with many useful cases like building, crafting further items, and trading with villagers. With bricks, you can elevate your building designs and add a touch of realism to your Minecraft world.
