11 × 11How to build round shapes in Minecraft
Building a circle
- Mark the centre first. An odd size has one centre block, an even size has a 2×2 centre.
- Build one quarter, then copy it to the other three. A circle is the same on every side.
- Count along the brighter lines. They fall every 10 blocks, so long rows are easy to count.
Thin, thick or filled
Thin walls use the fewest blocks, but their blocks only touch at the corners, so light and mobs can slip through. Thick walls close those gaps, which is what you want for towers, pens and pools. Filled gives you every block inside the shape, for floors, platforms and solid domes.
Spheres and domes, layer by layer
- Start at layer 1, the bottom, and build up one layer at a time.
- The faint blocks show the layer below, so you can line each new layer up with the last.
- A dome is the top half of a sphere. Lower its height for a flatter roof.
- Check the total before you start. Big spheres take thousands of blocks.
